Moses, I have seen how stubborn these people are,

So I warned the children not to act like their parents or follow their evil ways or worship their idols.

But the Israelites would not listen; they were as stubborn as their ancestors who had refused to worship the Lord their God.

But all of you that were faithful to the Lord your God are still alive today.

He prayed, “Lord, if you really are pleased with me, I pray that you will go with us. It is true that these people are sinful and rebellious, but forgive our sin and let us be your people.”

Phinehas and these leaders went to Gilead and met with the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh. They said:

Ever since the day I rescued my people from Egypt, they have turned from me to worship idols. Now they are turning away from you.

While they were in the desert, they often rebelled and made God sad.

But the people tested God Most High, and they refused to obey his laws.
