You can see how I suffer insult after insult, all because of you, Lord. Don't be so patient with my enemies; take revenge on them before they kill me.

I let them beat my back and pull out my beard. I didn't turn aside when they insulted me and spit in my face.

We face death all day for you. We are like sheep on their way to be slaughtered.

We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God's throne!

Herod and his soldiers made fun of Jesus and insulted him. They put a fine robe on him and sent him back to Pilate.

He was hated and rejected; his life was filled with sorrow and terrible suffering. No one wanted to look at him. We despised him and said, “He is a nobody!”

I am embarrassed every day, and I blush with shame.
