God Most High, have pity on me! Have mercy. I run to you for safety. In the shadow of your wings, I seek protection till danger dies down.

Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful.

I pray that the Lord God of Israel will reward you for what you have done. And now that you have come to him for protection, I pray that he will bless you.”

Go inside and lock the doors, my people. Hide there for a little while, until the Lord is no longer angry.

Have pity, God Most High! My enemies chase me all day.

The Lord Most High is your fortress. Run to him for safety,

I trust your love, and I feel like celebrating because you rescued me.

Show respect to his son because if you don't, the Lord might become furious and suddenly destroy you. But he blesses and protects everyone who runs to him.

“Sir,” I answered, “you must know.” Then he told me: “These are the ones who have gone through the great suffering. They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and have made them white.

None of you respect the Lord or obey his servant. You walk in the dark instead of the light; you don't trust the name of the Lord your God.

I pray to you, Lord. I beg for mercy.

I tell you for certain that you will cry and be sad, but the world will be happy. You will be sad, but later you will be happy.

If God doesn't make the time shorter, no one will be left alive. But because of God's chosen ones, he will make the time shorter.

Everyone who trusts the Lord is like Mount Zion that cannot be shaken and will stand forever.

Save me, God! Protect me from enemy attacks!

Do you mighty people talk only to oppose justice? Don't you ever judge fairly?

Soon I will stop being angry with you, and I will punish them for their crimes.

There were some sheep pens along the side of the road, and one of them was built around the entrance to a cave. Saul went into the cave to relieve himself. David and his men were hiding at the back of the cave.

When David escaped from the town of Gath, he went to Adullam Cave. His brothers and the rest of his family found out where he was, and they followed him there.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Your people have killed the prophets and have stoned the messengers who were sent to you. I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldn't let me.

Soon, David also got up and left the cave. “Your Majesty!” he shouted from a distance. Saul turned around to look. David bowed down very low

and prayed: Our Lord, please don't wipe out your people. You used your great power to rescue them from Egypt and to make them your very own.

They whispered to David, “The Lord told you he was going to let you defeat your enemies and do whatever you want with them. This must be the day the Lord was talking about.” David sneaked over and cut off a small piece of Saul's robe, but Saul didn't notice a thing.

“Don't kill him!” David whispered back. “The Lord will punish anyone who kills his chosen king.

Our God, we thank you for being so near to us! Everyone celebrates your wonderful deeds.
