Nothing they say is true! They just want to destroy. Their words are deceitful like a hidden pit, and their tongues are good only for telling lies.

Their words are like an open pit, and their tongues are good only for telling lies. Each word is as deadly as the fangs of a snake,

You want to bring me down from my place of honor. You love to tell lies, and when your words are kind, hatred hides in your heart.

You rich people are violent, and everyone tells lies.

Flattery is nothing less than setting a trap.

But you want complete honesty, so teach me true wisdom.

But you are in for trouble! You are like unmarked graves that people walk on without even knowing it.

You plan brutal crimes, and your lying words cut like a sharp razor.

You people of Judah are so deceitful that you even fool yourselves, and you can't change.

But Jerusalem, there is still time for you to be saved. Wash the evil from your hearts and stop making sinful plans,

They make evil plans and say, “We'll commit a perfect crime. No one knows our thoughts.”

We humans are only a breath; none of us are truly great. All of us together weigh less than a puff of air.

You also know we didn't try to flatter anyone. God himself knows what we did wasn't a cover-up for greed.

So the Lord said to him: You Pharisees clean the outside of cups and dishes, but on the inside you are greedy and evil.

Beside the Ahava River, I asked the people to go without eating and to pray. We humbled ourselves and asked God to bring us and our children safely to Jerusalem with all of our possessions.

Teach me to follow, Lord, and lead me on the right path because of my enemies.

You know how I am insulted, mocked, and disgraced; you know every one of my enemies.

Our Lord, you always do right, and you make the path smooth for those who obey you.
