You, Lord God, bless everyone who cares for the poor, and you rescue those people in times of trouble.

Caring for the poor is lending to the Lord, and you will be well repaid.

It's wrong to hate others, but God blesses everyone who is kind to the poor.

By everything I did, I showed how you should work to help everyone who is weak. Remember that our Lord Jesus said, “More blessings come from giving than from receiving.”

Do this, because on the day of judgment there will be no pity for those who have not had pity on others. But even in judgment, God is merciful!

God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and he won't forget the love you have shown his people.

They won't be in trouble when times are bad, and they will have plenty when food is scarce.

They will always be remembered and greatly praised, because they were kind and freely gave to the poor.

You will always have the poor with you. And whenever you want to, you can give to them. But you won't always have me here with you.

They gladly give and lend, and their children turn out good.

You obeyed my message and endured. So I will protect you from the time of testing everyone in all the world must go through.

They only asked us to remember the poor, and this was something I had always been eager to do.

My friends, we beg you to warn anyone who isn't living right. Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone.

An angry ruler can put you to death. So be wise! Don't make one angry.

The Lord's people may suffer a lot, but he will always bring them safely through.

Keep your Creator in mind while you are young! In years to come, you will be burdened down with troubles and say, “I don't enjoy life anymore.”

Naomi said, “Where did you work today? Whose field was it? God bless the man who treated you so well!” Then Ruth told her that she had worked in the field of a man named Boaz.

But because you trusted me, I will protect you from the officials of Judah, and when Judah is struck by disaster, I will rescue you and keep you alive. I, the Lord, have spoken.
