His words were smoother than butter, and softer than olive oil. But hatred filled his heart, and he was ready to attack with a sword.

I heard the Lord say, “My people ignore me. They are foolish children who do not understand that they will be punished. All they know is how to sin.”

They curse and tell lies, and all they talk about is how to be cruel or how to do wrong.

These people came from our own group, yet they were not really part of us. If they had been part of us, they would have stayed with us. But they left, which proves they did not belong to our group.

We are not like those people who turn back and get destroyed. We will keep on having faith until we are saved.

One of them was an expert in the Jewish Law. So he tried to test Jesus by asking,

Nothing will remain of anyone who has turned away and rejected me.

Their words bite deep like the poisonous fangs of a snake.

When the Lord punishes the wicked, he will punish everyone else who lives an evil life. Pray for peace in Israel!

Can't you fools see? Won't you ever learn?

You have done wrong and lied from the day you were born.

Nothing they say is true! They just want to destroy. Their words are deceitful like a hidden pit, and their tongues are good only for telling lies.

“David, you had the chance to kill me today. But you didn't. I was very wrong about you. It was a terrible mistake for me to try to kill you. I've acted like a fool, but I'll never try to harm you again. You're like a son to me, so please come back.”

and he thought, “I'll tell David he can marry Michal, but I'll set it up so that the Philistines will kill him.” He told David, “I'm going to give you a second chance to marry one of my daughters.”

The Spirit of the Lord had left Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord was terrifying him.

“No!” Samuel replied, “You disobeyed the Lord, and I won't go back with you. Now the Lord has said that you can't be king of Israel any longer.”

I do what you want and never turn to do evil.

Jehoshaphat obeyed the Lord, just as his father Asa had done,

They can't sleep or rest until they do wrong or harm some innocent victim.

But your enemies will chase you for rejecting our good agreement.

When it gets there and finds the place clean and fixed up,
