Proud and brutal people hunt down the poor. But let them get caught by their own evil plans!

Why do the nations plot, and why do their people make useless plans?

When Herod found out that the wise men from the east had tricked him, he was very angry. He gave orders for his men to kill all the boys who lived in or near Bethlehem and were two years old and younger. This was based on what he had learned from the wise men.

I hear the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid!” They are plotting and scheming to murder me.

He told them, “Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, let me know. I also want to go and worship him.”

They say, “Let's wipe out the nation of Israel and make sure that no one remembers its name!”

They say hurtful things, and they lie to people who want to live in peace.

So they looked for a way to arrest Jesus. But they were afraid to, because the people thought he was a prophet.

The Lord said, “Ezekiel, son of man, these men are making evil plans and giving dangerous advice to the people of Jerusalem.

Bring an end to his family, and from now on let him be a forgotten man.
