You are the one we trust to bring about justice; above all else we want your name to be honored.

Your laws are fair, and I have given my word to respect them all.

I will do right and praise you by learning to respect your perfect laws.

Your decisions are always fair. They are firm like mountains, deep like the sea, and all people and animals are under your care.

Sinners don't respect God; sin is all they think about.

They are always successful, though they can't understand your teachings, and they keep sneering at their enemies.

Each governor before me had been a burden to the people by making them pay for his food and wine and by demanding forty silver coins a day. Even their officials had been a burden to the people. But I respected God, and I didn't think it was right to be so hard on them.

The Lord gave Moses the following laws for his people:

“Don't hurt the boy or harm him in any way!” the angel said. “Now I know that you truly obey God, because you were willing to offer him your only son.”

Now you see both how kind and how hard God can be. He was hard on those who fell, but he was kind to you. And he will keep on being kind to you, if you keep on trusting in his kindness. Otherwise, you will be cut away too.

They answered, “Captain Cornelius sent us. He is a good man who worships God and is liked by the Jewish people. One of God's holy angels told Cornelius to send for you, so he could hear what you have to say.”

If you respect the Lord, you will hate evil. I hate pride and conceit and deceitful lies.

God gave his laws and teachings to the descendants of Jacob, the nation of Israel.

Your decisions are correct, and you were right to punish me.

Your laws are so fair that I wake up and praise you in the middle of the night.

Your wonderful teachings protect me from the insults that I hate so much.

You will protect us and always keep us safe from those people.

They will always be my most prized possession and my source of joy.

The Lord did not speak in a dark secret place or command Jacob's descendants to search for him in vain. The Lord speaks the truth, and this is what he says
