Your hand is raised and ready to punish them, but they don't see it. Put them to shame! Show how much you care for us and throw them into the fire intended for your enemies.

But you, Lord, tell them, “I will do something! The poor are mistreated and helpless people moan. I'll rescue all who suffer.”

Wherever they go, they leave ruin and destruction.

Don't be jealous of crooks or want to be their friends.

All who are wise follow a road that leads upward to life and away from death.

They are dishonest themselves, and so are all their deeds.

The wealth you get from crime robs you of your life.

At that very moment, a prophet ran up to Ahab and said, “You can see that Benhadad's army is very strong. But the Lord has promised to help you defeat them today. Then you will know that the Lord is in control.”

The time came for the grape harvest, and the people of Shechem went into their vineyards and picked the grapes. They gathered the grapes and made wine. Then they went into the temple of their god and threw a big party. There was a lot of eating and drinking, and before long they were cursing Abimelech.

God may let them feel secure, but they are never out of his sight.
