Now break the power of all merciless people. Punish them for doing wrong and make them stop.

I'll search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those people who sit there unworried while thinking, “The Lord won't do anything, good or bad.”

The wicked will lose all of their power, but the Lord gives strength to everyone who is good.

But its light is too much for those who are evil, and their power is broken.

You know every heart and mind, and you always do right. Now make violent people stop, but protect all of us who obey you.

You worthless shepherd, deserting the sheep! I hope a sword will cripple your arm and blind your right eye.

You killed innocent people for no reason at all. And even though their blood can be seen on your clothes,

I will get rid of sinful prostitution in this country, so that women everywhere will be warned not to act as you have.

Come and save me, Lord God! Break my enemies' jaws and shatter their teeth,
