Don't be greedy for all of that fancy food! It may not be so tasty.

Don't let me want to do evil or waste my time doing wrong with wicked people. Don't let me even taste the good things they offer.

Be careful! Don't say to yourself, “Soon it will be the seventh year, and then I won't be able to get my money back.” It would be horrible for you to think that way and to be so selfish that you refuse to help the poor. They are your relatives, and if you don't help them, they may ask the Lord to decide whether you have done wrong. And he will say that you are guilty.

Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Why should you be jealous, if I want to be generous?”

Don't be selfish and eager to get rich— you will end up worse off than you can imagine.

The Lord blesses everyone who freely gives food to the poor.

A woman may have grown up in such luxury that she never had to put a foot on the ground. But times will be so bad that she will secretly eat both her newborn baby and the afterbirth, without sharing any with her husband or her other children.
