You had better take seriously the need to honor my name. Otherwise, when you give a blessing, I will turn it into a curse. In fact, I have already done this, because you haven't taken to heart your duties as priests.

Then Judah said to his father, “Let Benjamin go with me, and we will leave at once, so that none of us will starve to death.

I have heard there is grain in Egypt. Go down and buy some, so we won't starve to death.”

People from all over the world came to Egypt to buy grain, because the famine was so severe in their countries.

When you lend money, food, or anything else to another Israelite, you are not allowed to charge interest.

One day the widow of one of the Lord's prophets said to Elisha, “You know that before my husband died, he was a follower of yours and a worshiper of the Lord. But he owed a man some money, and now that man is on his way to take my two sons as his slaves.”

Others said, “During the famine we even had to mortgage our fields, vineyards, and homes to them in order to buy grain.”

You harvest less than you plant, you never have enough to eat or drink, your clothes don't keep you warm, and your wages are stored in bags full of holes.

Don't let us starve and our land be ruined. If you'll give us grain to eat and seed to plant, we'll sell ourselves and our land to the king. We'll become his slaves.
