The earth is God's footstool, so don't swear by the earth. Jerusalem is the city of the great king, so don't swear by it.

Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.

Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.

Our Lord and our God, we praise you and kneel down to worship you, the God of holiness!

The Lord said: Heaven is my throne; the earth is my footstool. What kind of house could you build for me? In what place will I rest?

Don't swear by your own head. You cannot make one hair white or black.
