What kind of man did you go out to see? Was he someone dressed in fine clothes? People who dress like that live in the king's palace.

Those prophets will be ashamed of their so-called visions, and they won't deceive anyone by dressing like a true prophet.

He will go ahead of the Lord with the same power and spirit that Elijah had. And because of John, parents will be more thoughtful of their children. And people who now disobey God will begin to think as they ought to. This is how John will get people ready for the Lord.

I, the Lord, promise to send the prophet Elijah before that great and terrible day comes.

My two witnesses will wear sackcloth, while I let them preach for 1,260 days.

John the Baptist did not go around eating and drinking, and you said, “That man has a demon in him!”

he helped you capture the land. Your fields were rich with grain. Olive trees grew in your stony soil, and honey was found among the rocks.

About this same time the Lord had told me, “Isaiah, take off everything, including your sandals!” I did this and went around naked and barefoot
