Then Jesus started preaching, “Turn back to God! The kingdom of heaven will soon be here.”

He said, “The time has come! God's kingdom will soon be here. Turn back to God and believe the good news!”

During the time of those kings, the God who rules from heaven will set up an eternal kingdom that will never fall. It will be like the stone that was cut from the mountain, but not by human hands—the stone that crushed the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold. Your Majesty, in your dream the great God has told you what is going to happen, and you can trust this interpretation.

They also say that all people of every nation must be told in my name to turn to God, in order to be forgiven. So beginning in Jerusalem,

Come and set up your kingdom, so that everyone on earth will obey you, as you are obeyed in heaven.

When God makes you feel sorry enough to turn to him and be saved, you don't have anything to feel bad about. But when this world makes you feel sorry, it can cause your death.

As you go, announce that the kingdom of heaven will soon be here.

So turn to God! Give up your sins, and you will be forgiven.

Jesus said, “In the same way God's angels are happy when even one person turns to him.”

Not at all! But you can be sure that if you don't turn back to God, every one of you will also be killed.

But if I use God's power to force out demons, it proves that God's kingdom has already come to you.

The Lord isn't slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.

In the past, God forgave all this because people did not know what they were doing. But now he says that everyone everywhere must turn to him.

The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a net is thrown into a lake and catches all kinds of fish.

Jesus also said: The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a woman mixes a little yeast into three big batches of flour. Finally, all the dough rises.

On the day of judgment the people of Nineveh will stand there with you and condemn you. They turned to God when Jonah preached, and yet here is something far greater than Jonah.

Be humble when you correct people who oppose you. Maybe God will lead them to turn to him and learn the truth.

God blesses those people who are treated badly for doing right. They belong to the kingdom of heaven.

God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!

Tell them that as surely as I am the living Lord God, I don't like to see wicked people die. I enjoy seeing them turn from their sins and live. So if the Israelites want to live, they must stop sinning and turn back to me.

That's why I hate myself and sit here in dust and ashes to show my sorrow.

I gave her a chance to turn from her sins, but she did not want to stop doing these immoral things.

Jesus told them another story: The kingdom of heaven is like what happens when a farmer plants a mustard seed in a field.

We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn't need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God.

First I preached to the people in Damascus, and then I went to Jerusalem and all over Judea. Finally, I went to the Gentiles and said, “Stop sinning and turn to God! Then prove what you have done by the way you live.”

The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a king gave a wedding banquet for his son.

The kingdom of heaven is like what happened one night when ten young women took their oil lamps and went to a wedding to meet the groom.

You Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses are in for trouble! You're nothing but show-offs. You lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. You won't go in yourselves, and you keep others from going in.

As Jesus was telling what the kingdom of heaven would be like, he said: Early one morning a man went out to hire some workers for his vineyard.

This story will show you what the kingdom of heaven is like: One day a king decided to call in his officials and ask them to give an account of what they owed him.

In the towns where Jesus had worked most of his miracles, the people refused to turn to God. So Jesus was upset with them and said:

Later, they may feel sorry for what they did and ask your forgiveness. Answer them when they pray toward this temple I have built for you in your chosen city, here in this land you gave their ancestors. From your home in heaven, listen to their sincere prayers and do what they ask.

So, when you see these things happening, you know that God's kingdom will soon be here.

Then the rich man said, “No, that's not enough! If only someone from the dead would go to them, they would listen and turn to God.”

The kingdom is also like what happened when a man went away and put his three servants in charge of all he owned.

Jesus then told them this story: The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a farmer scattered good seed in a field.

Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news about God's kingdom. He also healed every kind of disease and sickness.

John will lead many people in Israel to turn back to the Lord their God.

Can you trust him to harvest your grain or take it to your barn from the threshing place?
