Pilate asked them, “What am I to do with Jesus, who is called the Messiah?” They all yelled, “Nail him to a cross!”

My friends, the message is that Jesus can forgive your sins! The Law of Moses could not set you free from all your sins.

Israel, I am the holy Lord God, the one who rescues you. You are slaves of rulers and of a nation who despises you. Now this is what I promise: Kings and rulers will honor you by kneeling at your feet. You can trust me! I am your Lord, the holy God of Israel, and you are my chosen ones.

The chief priests and the whole council tried to find someone to accuse Jesus of a crime, so they could put him to death. But they could not find anyone to accuse him.

So when the crowd came together, Pilate asked them, “Which prisoner do you want me to set free? Do you want Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

In less than a month, I became impatient with three shepherds who didn't like me, and I got rid of them.

No one ever went hungry at my house,

Pilate asked the crowd again, “Which of these two men do you want me to set free?” “Barabbas!” they shouted.

Pilate answered, “But what crime has he done?” “Nail him to a cross!” they yelled even louder.

The woman said, “I know that the Messiah will come. He is the one we call Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

They did exactly what the Scriptures said they would. Even though they couldn't find any reason to put Jesus to death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed. After Jesus had been put to death, he was taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb.
