Don't be angry or try to take revenge. I am the Lord, and I command you to love others as much as you love yourself.

The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, “Love others as much as you love yourself.”

Don't make fun of your father or disobey your mother— crows will peck out your eyes, and buzzards will eat the rest of you.

Respect your father and your mother, honor the Sabbath, and don't make idols or images. I am the Lord your God.

In the Law there are many commands, such as, “Be faithful in marriage. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not want what belongs to others.” But all of these are summed up in the command that says, “Love others as much as you love yourself.”

You have heard people say, “Love your neighbors and hate your enemies.”

The young man said, “I have obeyed all of these. What else must I do?”
