They poured out the blood of your people and your prophets. So you gave them blood to drink as they deserve!”

I tried punishing you, but you refused to come back to me, and like fierce lions you killed my prophets.

In spite of this, they rebelled and disobeyed your laws. They killed your prophets, who warned them to turn back to you, and they cursed your name.

But the people only laughed and insulted these prophets. They ignored what the Lord God was trying to tell them, until he finally became so angry that nothing could stop him from punishing Judah and Jerusalem.

and caused many innocent people to die. The Lord would not forgive this.

Manasseh was guilty of causing the people of Judah to sin and disobey the Lord. He also refused to protect innocent people—he even let so many of them be killed that their blood filled the streets of Jerusalem.

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went to Galilee.
