After his disciples had worshiped him, they returned to Jerusalem and were very happy.

Suddenly Jesus met them and greeted them. They went near him, held on to his feet, and worshiped him.

You are now very sad. But later I will see you, and you will be so happy that no one will be able to change the way you feel.

You have turned my sorrow into joyful dancing. No longer am I sad and wearing sackcloth.

You have never seen Jesus, and you don't see him now. But still you love him and have faith in him, and no words can tell how glad and happy

Thomas replied, “You are my Lord and my God!”

You have already heard me say I am going and I will also come back to you. If you really love me, you should be glad I am going back to the Father, because he is greater than I am.

They saw him and worshiped him, but some of them doubted.

But I tell you I am going to do what is best for you. This is why I am going away. The Holy Spirit cannot come to help you until I leave. But after I am gone, I will send the Spirit to you.

As he was doing this, he left and was taken up to heaven.

They spent their time in the temple, praising God.

The Mount of Olives was about a kilometer from Jerusalem. The apostles who had gone there were Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon, known as the Eager One, and Judas the son of James. After the apostles returned to the city, they went upstairs to the room where they had been staying.
