You have six days when you can do your work, but the seventh day of each week is holy because it belongs to me. No matter where you live, you must rest on the Sabbath and come together for worship. This law will never change.

Respect your father and your mother, honor the Sabbath, and don't make idols or images. I am the Lord your God.

Work the first six days of the week, but rest and relax on the seventh day. This law is not only for you, but for your oxen, donkeys, and slaves, as well as for any foreigners among you.

The man in charge of the synagogue was angry because Jesus had healed someone on the Sabbath. So he said to the people, “Each week has six days when we can work. Come and be healed on one of those days, but not on the Sabbath.”

Work for six days and rest on the seventh day, even during the seasons for plowing and harvesting.

On the Lord's day the Spirit took control of me, and behind me I heard a loud voice that sounded like a trumpet.

We must remember that the Law of Moses has been preached in city after city for many years, and every Sabbath it is read in our synagogues.

Then they went to prepare some sweet-smelling spices for his burial. But on the Sabbath they rested, as the Law of Moses commands.

But first, you must start respecting the Sabbath as a joyful day of worship. You must stop doing and saying whatever you please on this special day.

Foreigners will follow me. They will love me and worship in my name; they will respect the Sabbath and keep our agreement.

I will bless everyone who respects the Sabbath and refuses to do wrong.

Remember that I was the one who gave you the Sabbath. That's why on the sixth day I provide enough bread for two days. Everyone is to stay home and rest on the Sabbath.”

he told them that the Lord had said, “Tomorrow is the Sabbath, a sacred day of rest in honor of me. So gather all you want to bake or boil, and make sure you save enough for tomorrow.”

And so they rested on the Sabbath.
