The roads to Zion mourn because no one travels there to celebrate the festivals. The city gates are deserted; priests are weeping. Young women are raped; Zion is in sorrow!

I heard the Lord reply, “When I am finished, Jerusalem and the towns of Judah will be piles of ruins where only jackals live.”

Judah and Jerusalem weep as the land dries up.

“Sounds of destruction rumble from the north like distant thunder. Soon our towns will be ruins where only jackals live.”

And so, because of you, Jerusalem will be plowed under and left in ruins. Thorns will cover the mountain where the temple now stands.
