Joshua 24:14

Then Joshua told the people: Worship the Lord, obey him, and always be faithful. Get rid of the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived on the other side of the Euphrates River and in Egypt.

You also must obey the Lord—you must worship him with all your heart and remember the great things he has done for you.

People of Israel, what does the Lord your God want from you? The Lord wants you to respect and follow him, to love and serve him with all your heart and soul,

Jacob said to his family and to everyone else who was traveling with him: Get rid of your foreign gods! Then make yourselves acceptable to worship God and put on clean clothes.

Our Lord, you bless everyone who lives right and obeys your Law.

So I warned the children not to act like their parents or follow their evil ways or worship their idols.

Respect and obey the Lord! This is the first step to wisdom and good sense. God will always be respected.

God told us, “Wisdom means that you respect me, the Lord, and turn from sin.”

I am the Lord your God. I rescued you from Egypt. Just ask, and I will give you whatever you need.

The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands: “See that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern, and humbly obey your God.”
