He cuts away every branch of mine that doesn't produce fruit. But he trims clean every branch that does produce fruit, so that it will produce even more fruit.

An ax is ready to cut the trees down at their roots. Any tree that doesn't produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into a fire.

You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last. Then my Father will give you whatever you ask for in my name.

The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly hear the message and accept it. But they don't have deep roots, and they believe only for a little while. As soon as life gets hard, they give up.

The Lord will purify the descendants of Levi, as though they were gold or silver. Then they will bring the proper offerings to the Lord,

These people came from our own group, yet they were not really part of us. If they had been part of us, they would have stayed with us. But they left, which proves they did not belong to our group.

He gave himself to rescue us from everything evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right.

What if I could speak all languages of humans and even of angels? If I did not love others, I would be nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,

The lifestyle of good people is like sunlight at dawn that keeps getting brighter until broad daylight.

Let's do our best to know the Lord. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime.

The poor and the needy will celebrate and shout because of the Lord, the holy God of Israel.

There's only one way that Israel's sin and guilt can be completely forgiven: They must crush the stones of every pagan altar and place of worship.

They will be like trees that stay healthy and fruitful, even when they are old.

Some of those who are wise will suffer, so that God will make them pure and acceptable until the end, which will still come at the time he has decided.

Every tree producing bad fruit will be chopped down and burned.

Everyone who has something will be given more, and they will have more than enough. But everything will be taken from those who don't have anything.

The seeds that fell on good ground are the people who hear and welcome the message. They produce 30 or 60 or even 100 times as much as was planted.

Jesus said to his disciples: I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

You are already clean because of what I have said to you.

If you don't stay joined to me, you will be thrown away. You will be like dry branches that are gathered up and burned in a fire.

You Gentiles are like branches of a wild olive tree made to be part of a cultivated olive tree. You have taken the place of some branches that were cut away from it. And because of this, you enjoy the blessings that come from being part of that cultivated tree.

Now you see both how kind and how hard God can be. He was hard on those who fell, but he was kind to you. And he will keep on being kind to you, if you keep on trusting in his kindness. Otherwise, you will be cut away too.
