Everyone takes advantage of everyone else, and no one will admit that I am God.

I answered, “I know that you look for truth. You punished your people for their lies, but in spite of the pain, they became more stubborn and refused to turn back to you.”

But everyone who heard those prophets, stubbornly refused to obey. Instead, they turned their backs on everything my Spirit had commanded the earlier prophets to preach. So I, the Lord, became angry

Make sure you obey the one who speaks to you. The people did not escape, when they refused to obey the one who spoke to them at Mount Sinai. Do you think you can possibly escape, if you refuse to obey the one who speaks to you from heaven?

but you refuse to come to me for eternal life.

My people are determined to reject me for a god they think is stronger, but he can't help.

You are evil, and you lie and cheat to make yourselves rich. You are powerful

How can anyone be stupid enough to trust something that can be burned to ashes? No one can save themselves like that. Don't they realize that the idols they hold in their hands are not really gods?

and have said to his messengers and prophets: Don't tell us what God has shown you and don't preach the truth. Just say what we want to hear, even if it's false.

But until I come, you must hold firmly to the teaching you have.

Put everything to the test. Accept what is good

You are nothing more than a stubborn cow— so stubborn that I, the Lord, cannot feed you like lambs in an open pasture.

A bride could not forget to wear her jewelry to her wedding, but you have forgotten me day after day.

But if you turn against me, your enemies will kill you. I, the Lord, have spoken.

Hold firmly to my teaching and never let go. It will mean life for you.

The people have rebelled and rejected the Lord too many times. So enemies will attack like lions from the forest or wolves from the desert. Those enemies will watch the towns of Judah, and like leopards they will tear to pieces whoever goes outside.

We rejected you and did evil, so we deserve to be punished. But if you rescue us, Lord, everyone will see how great you are.

Everyone in Israel has stubbornly refused to obey your laws, and so those curses written by your servant Moses have fallen upon us.

you beg me to stop being angry, but you won't stop sinning.

I also sent prophets to warn you of danger, but when they sounded the alarm, you paid no attention.

My people ignored me and rejected my laws. They planned to do evil, and now the evil they planned will happen to them.”

But they rejected me, and so must return to Egypt; now Assyria will rule them.

Now you continue to sin by designing and making idols of silver in the shape of calves. You are told to sacrifice to these idols— yes, even to kiss them.
