Raise the signal flags; shout so all nations can hear— Babylon will be captured! Marduk, Babylon's god, will be ashamed and terrified, and his idols broken.

The gods Bel and Nebo are down on their knees, as wooden images of them are carried away on weary animals.

Now I see column after column of cavalry troops.” At once someone shouted, “Babylon has fallen! Every idol in the city lies broken on the ground.”

The time will come when I will punish Babylon's false gods. Everyone there will die, and the whole nation will be disgraced,

I will punish Marduk, the god of Babylon, and make him vomit out everything he gobbled up. Then nations will no longer bring him gifts, and Babylon's walls will crumble.

The angel shouted, “Fallen! Powerful Babylon has fallen and is now the home of demons. It is the den of every filthy spirit and of all unclean birds, and every dirty and hated animal.

I will fiercely attack. Then every god on this earth will shrink to nothing, and everyone of every nation will bow down to me, right where they are.

Jehoiachin was a prisoner in Babylon for 37 years. Then Evil Merodach became king of Babylonia, and in the first year of his rule, on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month, he let Jehoiachin out of prison.

Soon I will send a war to punish Babylon's idols and leave its wounded people moaning everywhere.

One messenger after another announces to the king, “Babylon has been captured!

But suddenly, Babylon will fall and be destroyed. I, the Lord, told the foreigners who lived there, “Weep for the city! Get medicine for its wounds; maybe they will heal.”

The sounds of your destruction will be heard among the nations, and the earth will shake.

Listen to me, you nations nearby or across the sea. I scattered the people of Israel, but I will gather them again. I will protect them like a shepherd guarding a flock;

So I tell all nations on earth, “Watch what I will do!

The Lord said, “Tell the nations that my people have rebelled against me. And so an army will come from far away to surround Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. I, the Lord, have spoken.

You heard what I said, and you have seen it happen. Now admit it's true! I will show you secrets you have never known.

Merodach Baladan, the son of Baladan, was now king of Babylonia. And when he learned that Hezekiah was well, he sent messengers with letters and a gift for him.

They destroyed the idols of wood and stone that the people of those nations had made and worshiped.

From high on a barren hill give a signal, shout the orders, and point the way to enter the gates of Babylon's proud rulers.

At that time you will say, “Our Lord, we are thankful, and we worship only you. We will tell the nations how glorious you are and what you have done.

Tell every nation on earth, “The Lord is wonderful and does marvelous things!

They will be afraid and say, “Look at what God has done and keep it all in mind.”

Those who brag about the useless idols they worship are terribly ashamed, and all the false gods bow down to the Lord.

Now leave Babylon! Celebrate as you go. Be happy and shout for everyone to hear, “The Lord has rescued his servant Israel!

Head for Jerusalem or another walled town!’ “Jeremiah, tell them I'm sending disaster from the north.

Raise the signal flag and attack the city walls. Post more guards. Have soldiers watch the city and set up ambushes. I have made plans to destroy Babylon, and nothing will stop me.

Signal the nations to get ready to attack. Raise a flag and blow a trumpet. Send for the armies of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz. Choose a commander; let the cavalry attack like a swarm of locusts.

The Lord let Nebuchadnezzar capture Jehoiakim and take away some of the things used in God's temple. And when the king returned to Babylonia, he put these things in the temple of his own god.

“I hear that you refuse to worship my gods and the gold statue I have set up.

You told me to say that idols did not create the heavens and the earth, and that you, the Lord, will destroy every idol.

Idols are merely a joke, and when the time is right, they will be destroyed.
