I am sorry that I had to punish you, and so I now tell you to stay here in Judah, where I will plant you and build you up, instead of tearing you down and uprooting you.

After Babylonia has been the strongest nation for 70 years, I will be kind and bring you back to Jerusalem, just as I have promised.

I will give this land to Israel and Judah once again, and I will make them as strong as they were before.

But later, I will have pity on these nations and bring them back to their own lands.

and I am sending you with authority to speak to the nations for me. You will tell them of doom and destruction, and of rising and rebuilding again.”

I am angry with the people of Jerusalem, and I will scatter them in foreign countries. But someday I will bring them back here and let them live in safety.

If you obey the Lord, he will watch over you and answer your prayers.

The Lord watches over everyone who obeys him, and he listens to their prayers. But he opposes everyone who does evil.”

I will gather you from the foreign nations and bring you home.

I will bring the rest of my people home from the lands where I have scattered them, and they will grow into a mighty nation.

I pray that God will bless me for everything I have done for my people.

The Lord is constantly watching everyone, and he gives strength to those who faithfully obey him. But you have done a foolish thing, and your kingdom will never be at peace again.

because the Lord your God keeps his eye on this land and takes care of it all year long.

I have decided not to rescue Jerusalem. Instead, I am going to let the king of Babylonia burn it to the ground. I, the Lord, have spoken. *

You chased off the nations by causing them trouble with your powerful arm. Then you let our ancestors take over their land.

Instead, you will call me the Living Lord who rescued you from that country in the north and from the other countries where I had forced you to go. Someday I will bring you back to this land that I gave your ancestors.

You are precious to me, and so I will rebuild your nation. Once again you will dance for joy and play your tambourines.

In the past, I took care to uproot them, to tear them down, and to destroy them. But when that day comes, I will take care to plant them and help them grow.

When that happens, all nations on earth will see the good things I have done for Jerusalem, and how I have given it complete peace. The nations will celebrate and praise and honor me, but they will also tremble with fear because of the powerful things I have done.

I'll make Israel prosper again. You will rebuild your towns and live in them. You will drink wine from your own vineyards and eat the fruit you grow.

You ordered us to bring him here, so you could see him for yourself.

The Lord will have mercy on Israel and will let them be his chosen people once again. He will bring them back to their own land, and foreigners will join them as part of Israel.

Your people will live right and always own the land; they are the trees I planted to bring praise to me.

“Find Jeremiah and keep him safe. Take good care of him and do whatever he asks.”
