Then I will purify them and put them to the test, just as gold and silver are purified and tested. They will pray in my name, and I will answer them. I will say, “You are my people,” and they will reply, “You, Lord, are our God!”

The Lord is good. He protects those who trust him in times of trouble.

I correct and punish everyone I love. So make up your minds to turn away from your sins.

But the foundation God has laid is solid. On it is written, “The Lord knows who his people are. So everyone who worships the Lord must turn away from evil.”

But now you know God, or better still, God knows you. How can you turn back and become the slaves of those weak and pitiful powers?

But God has no doubts about who loves him.

We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,

My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me,

But the groom replied, “I don't even know you!”

When you corrected me, it did me good because it taught me to study your laws.

Once you corrected me for not obeying you, but now I do obey.

He also gave you manna, a kind of food your ancestors had never even heard about. The Lord was testing you to make you trust him, so that later on he could be good to you.

Then the Lord told me to say:

that the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, had said: I had you taken from Jerusalem to Babylonia. Now I tell you

I had you taken from Jerusalem to Babylonia. But you had better listen to me now.

And someday, I will gather you from the nations where you are scattered and let you live in Israel again.

No matter what you have done, I am still the Lord your God, and I will never completely reject you or become absolutely disgusted with you there in the land of your enemies.

I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.

and all my laws and teachings. You will be my people, and I will be your God.
