You prophets in Jerusalem have spread evil everywhere. That's why I, the Lord, promise to give you bitter poison to eat and drink.

The people of Judah say to each other, “What are we waiting for? Let's run to a town with walls and die there. We rebelled against the Lord, and we were sentenced to die by drinking poison.

So I, the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, promise them poison to eat and drink.

He attacked and surrounded me with hardships and trouble;

Enemies poisoned my food, and when I was thirsty, they gave me vinegar.

The name of the star was Bitter, and a third of the water turned bitter. Many people died because the water was so bitter.

There they gave Jesus some wine mixed with a drug to ease the pain. But when Jesus tasted what it was, he refused to drink it.

Just thinking of my troubles and my lonely wandering makes me miserable.

So make sure that everyone in your tribe remains faithful to the Lord and never starts worshiping gods of other nations. If even one of you worships idols, you will be like the root of a plant that produces bitter, poisonous fruit.

Those lying prophets say there will be peace and plenty of food. But I say that those same prophets will die from war and hunger.

The Lord All-Powerful says: When that time comes, I will get rid of every idol in the country, and they will be forgotten forever. I will also do away with their prophets and those evil spirits that control them.

They were stubborn and worshiped Baal, just as their ancestors did.
