Israel is a senseless bird, fluttering back and forth between Egypt and Assyria.

When Assyria let you down, you quickly ran to Egypt, but you'll find no help there,

You are in for trouble if you go to Egypt for help, or if you depend on an army of chariots or a powerful cavalry. Instead you should depend on and trust the holy Lord God of Israel.

The Lord will pay the king of Assyria to bring a razor from across the Euphrates River and shave your head and every hair on your body, including your beard.

Ahaz sent a message to King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria and begged for help.
