Then the Lord told me to say to the people of Judah: You are my chosen people, but you have no right to be here in my temple, doing such evil things. The sacrifices you offer me won't protect you from disaster, so stop celebrating.

Most of all they enjoy being mean and deceitful.

You are unfaithful children, but you belong to me. Come home! I'll take one or two of you from each town and clan and bring you to Zion.

to go to Jerusalem and tell everyone that he had said: When you were my young bride, you loved me and followed me through the barren desert.

The Lord says, “Children, I didn't divorce your mother or sell you to pay debts; I divorced her and sold you because of your sins.

God cannot stand the prayers of anyone who disobeys his Law.

The Lord despises the offerings of wicked people with evil motives.

The Lord is disgusted by gifts from the wicked, but it makes him happy when his people pray.

Fools enjoy doing wrong, but anyone with good sense enjoys acting wisely.

But to the wicked I say: “You don't have the right to mention my laws or claim to keep our agreement!

Answer our prayers, God! Use your powerful arm and give us victory. Then the people you love will be safe.

So I'll rip off your clothes and leave you naked and ashamed for everyone to see. You are doomed! Will you ever be worthy to worship me again?

The Lord told me to say: You prophets and priests think so little of me, the Lord, that you even sin in my own temple!
