Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Put this in writing. From now on, the Lord will bless everyone who has faith in him when they die.” The Spirit answered, “Yes, they will rest from their hard work, and they will be rewarded for what they have done.”

Our bodies are like tents that we live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God will give each of us a place to live. These homes will not be buildings someone has made, but they are in heaven and will last forever.

“Lord, I am your servant, and now I can die in peace, because you have kept your promise to me.

In the world of the dead, the wicked and the weary rest without a worry. *

We should be cheerful, because we would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the Lord.

But Jesus told the woman, “Because of your faith, you are now saved. May God give you peace!”

“Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”

So our bodies return to the earth, and the life-giving breath returns to God.

Earlier, Asa had his own tomb cut out of a rock hill in Jerusalem. So he was buried there, and the tomb was filled with spices and sweet-smelling oils. Then the people built a bonfire in his honor.

The poor man died, and angels took him to the place of honor next to Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried.

It is a hard choice to make. I want to die and be with Christ, because this would be much better.

Both of them were good people and pleased the Lord God by obeying all that he had commanded.

Our Lord, you always do right, and you make the path smooth for those who obey you.

When kings die, they are buried in glorious tombs.

When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him again and said, “I am God All-Powerful. If you obey me and always do right,

Think of the bright future waiting for all the families of honest, innocent, and peace-loving people.

So, Daniel, be faithful until the end! You will rest, and at the end of time, you will rise from death to receive your reward.

The Lord said: My people, when you stood at the crossroads, I told you, “Follow the road your ancestors took, and you will find peace.” But you refused.
