“Cheer up! Don't be afraid. Your God is coming to punish your enemies. God will take revenge on them and rescue you.”

I am afraid I have wasted my time working with you.

So I will gladly give all I have and all I am. Will you love me less for loving you too much?

In fact, God thinks of us as a perfume that brings Christ to everyone. For people who are being saved, this perfume has a sweet smell and leads them to a better life. But for people who are lost, it has a bad smell and leads them to a horrible death. No one really has what it takes to do this work.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Your people have killed the prophets and have stoned the messengers who were sent to you. I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldn't let me.

Jesus said, “You people are too stubborn to have any faith! How much longer must I be with you? Why do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy here.”

However, if you do warn them, and they keep on sinning, they will die because of their sins, and you will be innocent.

Their work won't be wasted, and their children won't die of dreadful diseases. I will bless their children and their grandchildren.

Here is what the Lord has said for all the earth to hear: “Soon I will come to save the city of Zion and to reward you.

Look! The powerful Lord God is coming to rule with his mighty arm. He brings with him what he has taken in war, and he rewards his people.

We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God's throne!

And Isaiah said about the people of Israel, “All day long the Lord has reached out to people who are stubborn and refuse to obey.”

He came into his own world, but his own nation did not welcome him.

Didn't you know that the Messiah would have to suffer before he was given his glory?”

All day long I have reached out to stubborn and sinful people going their own way.

All of your hard work will be for nothing—and there will be no harvest of grain or fruit.

as you hold firmly to the message that gives life. Then on the day when Christ returns, I can take pride in you. I can also know that my work and efforts were not useless.

Many try to make friends with a ruler, but justice comes from the Lord.

You, Lord, are my God! I will praise you for doing the wonderful things you had planned and promised since ancient times.

You people of Israel say, “God pays no attention to us! He doesn't care if we are treated unjustly.” But how can you say that?

But I, the Lord, have promised that none who are evil will live in peace.

Now the Lord will get furious and do to his enemies, both near and far, what they did to his people.

I celebrate and shout because of my Lord God. His saving power and justice are the very clothes I wear. They are more beautiful than the jewelry worn by a bride or groom.

He answered, “Lord God All-Powerful, I've always done my best to obey you. But your people have broken their solemn promise to you. They have torn down your altars and killed all your prophets, except me. And now they are even trying to kill me!”
