Harvest celebrations are gone from the orchards and farms of Moab. I have silenced the shouts of people making wine.

Your vineyards will be filled with crying and weeping, because I will punish you. I, the Lord, have spoken!

you abuse the poor and demand heavy taxes from them. You have built expensive homes, but you won't enjoy them; you have planted vineyards, but you will get no wine.

The time came for the grape harvest, and the people of Shechem went into their vineyards and picked the grapes. They gathered the grapes and made wine. Then they went into the temple of their god and threw a big party. There was a lot of eating and drinking, and before long they were cursing Abimelech.

Their possessions will be taken, their homes left in ruins. They won't get to live in the houses they build, or drink wine from the grapes in their own vineyards.

You may not have worries now, but in about a year, the grape harvest will fail, and you will tremble.

They crush olives to make oil and grapes to make wine— but still they go thirsty.

Happy times have disappeared from the earth, and people shout in the streets, “We're out of wine!”

Grapevines have dried up and so has every tree— figs and pomegranates, date palms and apples. All happiness has faded away.

You will have such a harvest that you won't be able to bring in all of your wheat before plowing time. You will have grapes left over from season to season; your fruitful vineyards will cover the mountains.

You people of Israel are doomed! Soon there will be panic on the mountaintops instead of celebration.
