You were so busy sinning and being a prostitute that you refused to think about the days when you were young and were rolling around naked in your own blood.

Then she was planted in a hot, dry desert,

Do you know why your clothes were torn off and you were abused? It was because of your terrible sins.

The ten horns and the beast will start hating the shameless woman. They will strip off her clothes and leave her naked. Then they will eat her flesh and throw the rest of her body into a fire.

Horrible destruction will strike the nearby towns. The land will become a barren desert, where no one can live or even travel.

Listen to what I think about it: The palace of Judah's king is as glorious as Gilead or Lebanon's highest peaks. But it will be as empty as a ghost-town when I'm through with it.

They will dry up like a bush in salty desert soil, where nothing can grow.

You were married to me, but you were unfaithful. You even became a prostitute by worshiping disgusting gods on hilltops and in fields.

My beautiful land is ruined like a field or a vineyard trampled by shepherds and stripped bare by their flocks.

Farmland had become a desert, and towns were in ruins. The Lord's fierce anger had done all of this.

Now listen to what I say! Did I abandon you in the desert or surround you with darkness? You are my people, yet you have told me, “We'll do what we want, and we refuse to worship you!”

Your ancestors refused to ask for my help, though I had rescued them from Egypt and led them through a treacherous, barren desert, where no one lives or dares to travel.

Every one of your towns has turned into a desert, especially Jerusalem.

You will suffer the shame of going naked, because I will take revenge, and no one can escape.

Then I'll strip her naked in the sight of her lovers. No one can rescue her.

Rulers send their servants to the storage pits for water. But there's none to be found; they return in despair with their jars still empty.

No matter if you prosper more than the other tribes, I, the Lord, will wipe you out, just as a scorching desert wind dries up streams of water. I will take away your precious treasures.

Everyone in Israel and Judah is guilty. But I, the Lord All-Powerful, their holy God, have not abandoned them.
