Then I remember something that fills me with hope.

I am the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, and I promise you that people will once again buy and sell houses, farms, and vineyards in this country.

Then your people trusted you and sang your praises.

Israel, I, the Lord, am still your God, just as I have been since the time you were in Egypt. Now I will force you to live in tents once again, as you did in the desert.

My people will worship me. Then the coastlands of Sharon and the land as far as Achor Valley will turn into pastureland where cattle and sheep will feed and rest.

She said, “My lovers gave me vineyards and fig trees as payment for sex.” Now I, the Lord, will ruin her vineyards and fig trees; they will become clumps of weeds eaten by wild animals.

Since the time I was young, enemies have often attacked! Let everyone in Israel say:

You call me your father or your long-lost friend;

The Lord God said: Someday I will gather the people of Israel from the nations where they are now scattered, and every nation will see that I am holy. The Israelites will once again live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob.

I sent the prophet Moses to lead Israel from Egypt and to keep them safe.

I, the Lord, have been your God since the time you were in Egypt. I am the only God you know, the only one who can save.

The Israelites forgot that the Lord was their God, and that he had rescued them from the enemies who lived around them.

He acted just like Jeroboam. Even worse, he married Jezebel the daughter of King Ethbaal of Sidon and started worshiping Baal.
