I know what you are like! But I will heal you, lead you, and give you comfort, until those who are mourning

At that time you will say, “I thank you, Lord! You were angry with me, but you stopped being angry and gave me comfort.

The Lord your God wins victory after victory and is always with you. He celebrates and sings because of you, and he will refresh your life with his love.”

Let's return to the Lord. He has torn us to shreds, but he will bandage our wounds and make us well.

I will tell them, “Come back, and I will cure you of your unfaithfulness.” They will answer, “We will come back, because you are the Lord our God.

We rejected you and did evil, so we deserve to be punished. But if you rescue us, Lord, everyone will see how great you are.

God our Savior showed us how good and kind he is.

God saved us and chose us to be his holy people. We did nothing to deserve this, but God planned it because he is so kind. Even before time began God planned for Christ Jesus to show kindness to us.

God treated us with undeserved grace because of the Son he dearly loves, and so we should praise God.

But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins.

My people are determined to reject me for a god they think is stronger, but he can't help.

Then someday, I will heal this place and my people as well, and let them enjoy unending peace.

You, Lord, are the one I praise. So heal me and rescue me! Then I will be completely well and perfectly safe.

If medicine and doctors may be found in Gilead, why aren't my people healed?

The people have rebelled and rejected the Lord too many times. So enemies will attack like lions from the forest or wolves from the desert. Those enemies will watch the towns of Judah, and like leopards they will tear to pieces whoever goes outside.

Yet God was kind. He kept forgiving their sins and didn't destroy them. He often became angry, but never lost his temper.

“In my anger, I would have wiped out the Israelites if Phinehas had not been faithful to me.

So he said to Moses, “Take the Israelite leaders who are responsible for this and have them killed in front of my sacred tent where everyone can see. Maybe then I will stop being angry with the Israelites.”

Then he said, “I am the Lord your God, and I cure your diseases. If you obey me by doing right and by following my laws and teachings, I won't punish you with the diseases I sent on the Egyptians.”

If you are thirsty, come and drink water! If you don't have any money, come, eat what you want! Drink wine and milk without paying a cent.

People of Israel, you are my own dear children. Don't I love you best of all? Though I often make threats, I want you to be near me, so I will have mercy on you. I, the Lord, have spoken.

Suppose I warn wicked people that they will die because of their sins, and they stop sinning and start doing right.

Then the nearby nations that survive will know that I am the one who rebuilt the ruined places and replanted the barren fields. I, the Lord, make this promise.

But you see the trouble and the distress, and you will do something. The poor can count on you, and so can orphans.

Others will stumble and fall, but we will be strong and stand firm.

I will accept you as my wife forever, and instead of a bride price I will give you justice, fairness, love, kindness,
