Then I'll return to my temple until they confess their guilt and worship me, until they are desperate and beg for my help.

The woman shouted at Elijah, “What have I done to you? I thought you were God's prophet. Did you come here to cause the death of my son as a reminder that I've sinned against God?”

David said, “I have disobeyed the Lord.” “Yes, you have!” Nathan answered. “You showed you didn't care what the Lord wanted. He has forgiven you, and you won't die. But your newborn son will.”

But if you don't keep your promise, you will sin against the Lord and be punished.

The king's personal servant said: Now I remember what I was supposed to do.

“People of Judah, your hearts will be in pain, but it's your own fault that you will be punished.”

Joseph asked his brothers if his father was still alive, but they were too frightened to answer.

After Jacob died, Joseph's brothers said to each other, “What if Joseph still hates us and wants to get even with us for all the cruel things we did to him?”

“Sir, what can we say?” Judah replied. “How can we say we are innocent, when God has shown we are guilty? And now all of us are your slaves, especially the one who had the cup.”
