After I punish the Egyptians, they will be so afraid of you that they will give you anything you want. You are my people, and I will let you take many things with you when you leave the land of Egypt.

The Lord had made the Egyptians friendly toward the people of Israel, and they gave them whatever they asked for. In this way they carried away the wealth of the Egyptians when they left Egypt.

When God led Israel from Egypt, they took silver and gold, and no one was left behind.

So the Lord made the Egyptians greatly respect the Israelites, and everyone, including the king's officials, considered Moses an important leader.

The Israelites had already done what Moses had told them to do. They had gone to their Egyptian neighbors and asked for gold and silver and for clothes.

Forgive your people no matter how much they have sinned against you. Make the enemies who defeated them be kind to them.

Now go and tell my people to ask their Egyptian neighbors for gold and silver jewelry.

And don't just tell them they are free to leave—
