Parents, don't be hard on your children. Raise them properly. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord.

Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope.

And if you and your descendants want to live a long time, you must always worship the Lord and obey his laws.

Stop all your dirty talk. Say the right thing at the right time and help others by what you say.

I have chosen him to teach his family to obey me forever and to do what is right and fair. If they do, I will give Abraham many descendants, just as I promised.”

Their teaching will guide you when you walk, protect you when you sleep, and talk to you when you are awake.

Good people do good things because of the good in their hearts, but bad people do bad things because of the evil in their hearts. Your words show what is in your heart.

Good people bring good things out of their hearts, but evil people bring evil things out of their hearts.

Be pleasant and hold their interest when you speak the message. Choose your words carefully and be ready to give answers to anyone who asks questions.

Words of wisdom make good sense; the thoughts of a fool make no sense at all.

Many are helped by useful instruction, but fools are killed by their own stupidity.

All those who truly respected the Lord and honored his name started discussing these things, and when God saw what was happening, he had their names written as a reminder in his book.

Words of wisdom come from the wise, but fools speak foolishness.

And don't let anyone who passes by say to them, “The Lord bless you! I give you my blessing in the name of the Lord.”

and I trust them so much that I tell them to kings.

When Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and went out to his field, he said to the harvest workers, “The Lord bless you!” They replied, “And may the Lord bless you!”

You have taught me since I was a child, and I never stop telling about your marvelous deeds.

Only the living can thank you, as I am doing today. Each generation tells the next about your faithfulness.

But they will instruct you with great understanding.

With my own mouth, I tell others the laws that you have spoken.
