The Lord our God has blessed us, and so now there are as many of us as there are stars in the sky.

When your ancestors went to live in Egypt, there were only 70 of them. But the Lord has blessed you, and now there are more of you than there are stars in the sky.

There are as many of you now as the stars in the sky, but if you disobey the Lord your God, only a few of you will be left.

Remember the solemn promise you made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You promised that someday they would have as many descendants as there are stars in the sky and that you would give them land.

“I will bless you and give you such a large family, that someday your descendants will be more numerous than the stars in the sky or the grains of sand along the seashore. They will defeat their enemies and take over the cities where their enemies live.

Then the Lord took Abram outside and said, “Look at the sky and see if you can count the stars. That's how many descendants you will have.”

Your descendants will spread over the earth in all directions and will become as numerous as the specks of dust. Your family will be a blessing to all people.

You brought them into the land that you had promised their ancestors, and you blessed their nation with people that outnumbered the stars in the sky.

The Israelites walked from the city of Rameses to the city of Succoth. There were about 600,000 of them, not counting women and children.

When David decided to count the people of Israel, he gave orders not to count anyone under 20 years of age, because the Lord had promised long ago that Israel would have as many people as there are stars in the sky.

And when they stopped to set up camp, he would pray, “Our Lord, stay close to Israel's thousands and thousands of people.”

God has even promised to bless us a thousand times more, and I pray that he will.

You were the weakest of all nations,

Then, standing there in front of the place of worship, you must pray: My ancestor was homeless, an Aramean who went to live in Egypt. There were only a few in his family then, but they became great and powerful, a nation of many people.

The Lord will bless you with many children and with herds of cattle.

God chose Abraham and Sarah to be your ancestors. The Lord blessed Abraham, and from that one man came many descendants.

I took care of you, like someone caring for a tender, young plant. You grew up to be a beautiful young woman with mature breasts and hair, but you were still naked.
