But the Lord stood beside me. He gave me the strength to tell his full message, so that all Gentiles would hear it. And I was kept safe from hungry lions.

The king was relieved to hear Daniel's voice, and he gave orders for him to be taken out of the pit. Daniel's faith in his God had kept him from being harmed.

It troubled the Lord to see them in trouble, and his angel saved them. The Lord was truly merciful, so he rescued his people. He took them in his arms and carried them all those years.

Tell those who obey God, “You're very fortunate— you will be rewarded for what you have done.”

The Lord is my God! I will praise him and tell him how thankful I am.

You are the Lord God! Stay nearby and don't desert me.

If you honor the Lord, his angel will protect you.

and he sent an angel that killed every soldier and commander in the Assyrian camp. Sennacherib returned to Assyria, completely disgraced. Then one day he went into the temple of his god where some of his sons killed him.

He was anxious and shouted, “Daniel, you were faithful and served your God. Was he able to save you from the lions?”

I was in terrible trouble when I called out to you, but from your temple you heard me and answered my prayer.

We can be proud of our clear conscience. We have always lived honestly and sincerely, especially when we were with you. And we were guided by God's gift of undeserved grace instead of by the wisdom of this world.

Then about that time Jesus shouted, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you deserted me?”

I wash my hands, Lord, to show my innocence, and I worship at your altar,

Why are you hunting me down? Have I done something wrong, or have I committed a crime?

I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and here in Egypt I haven't done anything to deserve being thrown in jail.

Angels are merely spirits sent to serve people who are going to be saved.

Then I continued, “Your Majesty, why have you put me in prison? Have I committed a crime against you or your officials or the nation?

The other men tried to find something wrong with the way Daniel did his work for the king. But they could not accuse him of anything wrong, because he was honest and faithful and did everything he was supposed to do.

he left. He found the body lying on the road, with the donkey and lion standing there. The lion had not eaten the body or attacked the donkey.

All of your officials, leaders, advisors, and governors agree that you should make a law forbidding anyone to pray to any god or human except you for the next 30 days. Everyone who disobeys this law must be thrown into a pit of lions.
