But some men from Cyrene and Alexandria were members of a group who called themselves “Free Men.” They started arguing with Stephen. Some others from Cilicia and Asia also argued with him.

Paul and the others left Paphos and sailed to Perga in Pamphylia. But John left them and went back to Jerusalem.

Later, I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

I am a Jew, born in the city of Tarsus in Cilicia. But I grew up here in Jerusalem where I was a student of Gamaliel and was taught to follow every single law of our ancestors. In fact, I was just as eager to obey God as any of you are today.

“No!” Paul replied. “I am a Jew from Tarsus, an important city in Cilicia. Please let me speak to the crowd.”

They traveled through Syria and Cilicia, encouraging the churches.

But Paul did not want to, because Mark had left them in Pamphylia and had stopped working with them.

They wrote a letter that said: We apostles and leaders send friendly greetings to all of you Gentiles who are followers of the Lord in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia.
