You will be arrested, punished, and even killed. Because of me, you will be hated by people of all nations.

Remember how I told you that servants are not greater than their master. So if people mistreat me, they will mistreat you. If they do what I say, they will do what you say.

I was with you every day in the temple, and you didn't arrest me. But this is your time, and darkness is in control.”

You will be chased out of the synagogues. And the time will come when people will kill you and think they are doing God a favor.

Show your mighty power, as we heal people and work miracles and wonders in the name of your holy Servant Jesus.

The church in Judea, Galilee, and Samaria now had a time of peace and kept on worshiping the Lord. The church became stronger, as the Holy Spirit encouraged it and helped it grow.

He won't let the wicked rule his people or lead them to do wrong.

About this time Herod the ruler heard the news about Jesus

Herod had earlier arrested John and had him chained and put in prison. He did this because John had told him, “It isn't right for you to take Herodias, the wife of your brother Philip.”

When Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests. She pleased Herod

So they appointed Barnabas and Saul to take their gifts to the church leaders in Jerusalem.

He ordered soldiers to cut off the head of James, the brother of John.
