Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was the commander of David's bodyguard. David's sons were his highest-ranking officials.

Joab was the commander of Israel's entire army. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of David's bodyguard.

They met him at the temple, and he asked them to make a promise in the name of the Lord. Then he brought out Joash
