This battle was the beginning of a long war between the followers of Saul and the followers of David. Saul's power grew weaker, but David's grew stronger.

What can we say about all this? If God is on our side, can anyone be against us?

The Lord All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress.

Jesus became wise, and he grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people.

His power will never end; peace will last forever. He will rule David's kingdom and make it grow strong. He will always rule with honesty and justice. The Lord All-Powerful will make certain that all of this is done.

The lifestyle of good people is like sunlight at dawn that keeps getting brighter until broad daylight.

The Lord All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress.

They would do the right thing and because they did, they would grow stronger.

About this time Abimelech and his army commander Phicol said to Abraham, “God blesses everything you do!

But cheer up! Because I, the Lord All-Powerful, will be here to help you with the work,

David was a success in everything that Saul sent him to do, and Saul made him a high officer in his army. That pleased everyone, including Saul's other officers.

Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was helping David and was no longer helping him.

The Lord helped David, and he and his soldiers always won their battles.

Wherever you went, I helped you and destroyed your enemies right in front of your eyes. I have made you one of the most famous people in the world.

He left some of his soldiers in Damascus, and the Arameans had to accept David as their ruler and pay taxes to him. Everywhere David went, the Lord helped him win battles.

David left soldiers all through Edom, and the people of Edom had to accept him as their ruler. Wherever David went, the Lord helped him.
