The men in charge were honest, so no one had to keep track of the money.

And since our first duty is to be faithful to the one we work for,

God blesses his loyal people, but punishes all who want to get rich quick.

I put my brother Hanani in charge of Jerusalem, along with Hananiah, the commander of the fortress, because Hananiah could be trusted, and he respected God more than most people did.

They did not use all the tax money for the repairs, so the rest of it was handed over to Joash and Jehoiada, who then used it to make dishes and other gold and silver objects for the temple. Sacrifices to please the Lord were offered regularly in the temple for as long as Jehoiada lived.

Dear friend, you have always been faithful in helping other followers of the Lord, even the ones you didn't know before.

You have often heard me teach. Now I want you to tell these same things to followers who can be trusted to tell others.

the workers, and with the rest of it they can buy wood and stone for the repair work.
