Manasseh was guilty of causing the people of Judah to sin and disobey the Lord. He also refused to protect innocent people—he even let so many of them be killed that their blood filled the streets of Jerusalem.

But the people of Judah and Jerusalem listened to Manasseh and did even more sinful things than the nations the Lord had wiped out.

King Manasseh has done more disgusting things than the Amorites, and he has led my people to sin by forcing them to worship his idols.

I, the Lord, live among you people of Israel, so your land must be kept pure. But when a murder takes place, blood pollutes the land, and it becomes unclean. If that happens, the murderer must be put to death, so the land will be clean again. Keep murder out of Israel!

Still others were stoned to death or sawed in two or killed with swords. Some had nothing but sheep skins or goat skins to wear. They were poor, mistreated, and tortured.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Your people have killed the prophets and have stoned the messengers who were sent to you. I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldn't let me.

The chief priests picked up the money and said, “This money was paid to have a man killed. We can't put it in the temple treasury.”

The people of Judah stopped worshiping me and made this valley into a place of worship for Baal and other gods that have never helped them or their ancestors or their kings. And they have committed murder here, burning their young, innocent children as sacrifices to Baal. I have never even thought of telling you to do that.

This punishment will happen because of the horrible things your King Manasseh did. And you will be disgusting to all nations on earth.

Stop taking advantage of foreigners, orphans, and widows. Don't kill innocent people. And stop worshiping other gods.

You killed innocent people for no reason at all. And even though their blood can be seen on your clothes,

Moses asked Aaron, “What did these people do to harm you? Why did you make them sin in this terrible way?”

My people have done what I hate and have not stopped making me angry since their ancestors left Egypt.

The Lord answered, “The people of Israel and Judah have done horrible things. Their country is filled with murderers, and Jerusalem itself is filled with violence. They think that I have deserted them, and that I can't see what they are doing.

Those crimes have made you guilty, and the idols have made you unacceptable to me. So your final punishment is near. Other nations will laugh at you and make insulting remarks,

But he kept doing the sinful things that Jeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel to do.

Manasseh disobeyed the Lord by following the disgusting customs of the nations that the Lord had forced out of Israel.

There are six or seven kinds of people the Lord doesn't like:

Those who are too proud or tell lies or murder,

Ezekiel, son of man, are you ready to condemn Jerusalem? That city is filled with murderers, so remind the people of their sins

But honest judges will someday accuse those two of murder and of being unfaithful, because they are certainly guilty.
