God replied: Solomon, you could have asked me to make you rich or famous or to let you live a long time. Or you could have asked for your enemies to be destroyed. Instead, you asked for wisdom and knowledge to rule my people.

But the wisdom that comes from above leads us to be pure, friendly, gentle, sensible, kind, helpful, genuine, and sincere.

People like that take note of how much you eat. They say, “Take all you want!” But they don't mean it.

But the Lord told him, “Samuel, don't think Eliab is the one just because he's tall and handsome. He isn't the one I've chosen. People judge others by what they look like, but I judge people by what is in their hearts.”

Are any of you wise or sensible? Then show it by living right and by being humble and wise in everything you do.

Everyone in Israel was amazed when they heard how Solomon had made his decision. They realized that God had given him wisdom to judge fairly.

God's word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.

Wise people have enough sense to find their way, but stupid fools get lost.

After everyone was there, David stood up and said: Listen to me, my people. I wanted to build a place where the sacred chest would be kept, so we could go there and worship the Lord our God. I have prepared all the supplies for building a temple,

the Lord said, “It's good that you want to build a temple where I can be worshiped.

So I will make you wise and intelligent. But I will also make you richer and more famous than any king before or after you.

People from every nation wanted to hear the wisdom God had given him.

By my power kings govern, and rulers make laws that are fair.
