Church officials are in charge of God's work, and so they must also have a good reputation. They must not be bossy, quick-tempered, heavy drinkers, bullies, or dishonest in business.

My friends, we beg you to warn anyone who isn't living right. Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone.

They want to serve themselves and not Christ the Lord. Their flattery and fancy talk fool people who don't know any better.

I have never wanted anyone's money or clothes.

He told them, “The Scriptures say, ‘My house should be called a place of worship.’ But you have turned it into a place where robbers hide.”

I wish someone would lock the doors of my temple, so you would stop wasting time building fires on my altar. I am not pleased with you priests, and I refuse to accept any more of your offerings.

You leaders accept bribes for dishonest decisions. You priests and prophets teach and preach, but only for money. Then you say, “The Lord is on our side. No harm will come to us.”

You lying prophets promise security for anyone who gives you food, but disaster for anyone who refuses to feed you. Here is what the Lord says to you prophets:

The only prophet you want is a liar who will say, “Drink and get drunk!”

They must not drink wine before going to the inner courtyard.

The city of Samaria above a fertile valley is in for trouble! Its leaders are drunkards, who stuff themselves with food and wine. But they will be like flowers that dry up and wilt.

Something completed is better than something just begun; patience is better than too much pride.

Being greedy causes trouble for your family, but you protect yourself by refusing bribes.

The wealth you get from crime robs you of your life.

But they were not like their father. They were dishonest and accepted bribes to give unfair decisions.

People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless,
