“A man named Jesse who lives in Bethlehem has a son who can play the harp,” one official said. “He's a brave warrior, he's good-looking, he can speak well, and the Lord is with him.”

As Samuel grew up, the Lord helped him and made everything Samuel said come true.

The jailer did not worry about anything, because the Lord was with Joseph and made him successful in all that he did.

So Joseph lived in the home of Potiphar, his Egyptian owner. Soon Potiphar realized that the Lord was helping Joseph to be successful in whatever he did.

After these things happen, do whatever you think is right! God will help you.

and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.

“A virgin will have a baby boy, and he will be called Immanuel,” which means “God is with us.”

Saul sent a message to Jesse: “Tell your son David to leave your sheep and come here to me.”

David's father Jesse was an old man, who belonged to the Ephrath clan and lived in Bethlehem in Judah. Jesse had eight sons:

Jesse sent for David. He was a healthy, good-looking boy with a sparkle in his eyes. As soon as David came, the Lord told Samuel, “He's the one! Get up and pour the olive oil on his head.”

Good sense is worthy of praise, but stupidity is a curse.
